A Health Centre III building has collapsed on workers who were constructing it injuring three critically.
The gate building of Bumwoni health centre III, in Bumwoni Sub County, Namisindwa district collapsed yesterday 16th May, 2023 injuring Robert Kalura currently admitted at Magale health centre III, Joseph Khisa admitted at Bumwoni health centre III and Robert Fund.
The three sustained several injuries including broken legs and hands, wounds on their heads and other bodily injuries.
Michael Khaukha, the LCIII chairperson of Bumwoni Sub County says that the cause of the collapse was due to shoddy work since Fred Khaukha, heading Pearl of clip Construction Company ,the contractor has been supervising himself because he is currently in charge of the same health centre.
Khaukha also says that the gate structure collapsed due to lack of enough cement and poor quality iron bar used in the construction.
Emma Bwayo, the Namisindwa district male youth councillor raised his concern about the incident and condemned shoddy work in the district.
He adds that shoddy works cost both taxpayers and the government like how these innocent Ugandans were affected by getting injuries.
Bwayo tasked the district engineer, Robert Mukelule to explain how the in charge acquired the contract whereby nobody was supervising his activities at the site.
Getting a comment from Robert Mukelule the Namisindwa district acting engineer was futile by press time after all his numbers is off.
Julie Namara, the Namisindwa District Deputy Resident District Commissioner blamed the procurement department for all these problems saying that the contract cannot be given to an in charge who should be acting as supervisor.
Meanwhile, Khaukha heading the Pearl of Clip Construction Company also in charge of Bumwoni health centre III refused to pick up our calls to have a comment after being contacted.
