A 20-year-old man has died after accidentally drowning in the Uganda Clays pond, Kamonkoli branch this morning, 23rd May, 2023.
The deceased has been identified as Augustine Mulapada, a resident of Namisango village, Kamonkole Town Council in Budaka district.
According to Immaculate Alaso, the police spokesperson of Bukedi North, the body of Mulapanda was found floating in the pond of Uganda clays Kamonkoli branch where they mine clay from.
She adds that the body has been retrieved from the water and has been taken to Mbale regional referral hospital for postmortem.
A security guard at Uganda Clay KamonkolI branch, also an eyewitness and only identified as Zugu told our reporter that he saw Malapanda moving around the pond and after falling inside the pond, everybody feared to retrieve him from the water until he died.
