The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party has maintained the status quo of its Parliamentary Commissioners.

While the Opposition presented the former Leader of Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga as Commissioner replacing Zaake, the NRM Party maintained Afoyachan Esther, Solomon Silwany and Prossy Akampulira who will serve between January 2024 to May 2026.

However, the approval of Commissioners for NRM Party received some protest by Yorke Alion (Aringa South County) who wondered by the NRM Party asked MPs to apply for positions of Commissioners, yet all signs showed the Party wanted to maintain the old team

Despite Alion’s outburst, Parliament still went ahead and approved the appointment of the Commissioners in today’s Plenary, 9th January, 2024.

A Parliamentary Commissioner earns an extra Honorarium of Shs4.2M a month, a car and driver, a fuel card worthy Shs4m, a personal Assistant and two domestic workers.
