The Entebbe Golf Club Lady Captain, Jovia Tugume Namaara is desperately eyeing the Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament seat. Being new in politics, she thinks indulging herself into community service activities will earn her support from the electorate.
In a bid to popularize her political ambition, she has started distributing reflector jackets bearing her photo to boda boda riders in addition to taking selfies with some hawkers who seem not to be voters of Entebbe.
Ms. Jovia Namaara has a mammoth task to beat the current party flag bearer, Hon. Steven Shyka Gashaija in the NRM Party Primaries. In fact among those who have expressed interest to run for Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament seat, she is the underdog and political pundits say she miscalculated her political games saying she would have started at a councilor level to enable her gain some experience in politics.
The current NRM party flag bearer has distributed several bags of cement to religious institutions and also injected money in different SACCO groups while her competitor in the upcoming party primaries has only afforded to distribute reflector jackets to boda riders hence making him favorite to retain the NRM party ticket.
Meanwhile, the NRM party flag bearer will have an uphill task to see off any of the opposition candidates since Entebbe is predominantly known for opposition. This implies for NRM to win the MP seat, they will have to apply some magic just like it was done in 2021 mayoral elections.
