A devastating incident occurred on Wednesday, 15th October 2025, at around 9:20 a.m. in Kisaikye “A” Zone, Kisaikye Parish, Namasagali Sub-county, Kamuli District, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old boy.
According to Samson Lubega, Busoga North region police spokesperson, Anthony Musembya, a pupil of Namasagali Primary School, lost his life in a stone quarry accident.
He says according to preliminary findings, Musembya had informed his mother that he was unwell and would not attend school. However, he later joined other children at an illegal stone quarry in the area.
Tragically, the quarry walls caved in, burying Musembya under the debris. Despite efforts to rescue him, he succumbed to fatal injuries.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident. A joint team of homicide detectives and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) visited the scene, documenting evidence and recording statements from eyewitnesses.
Preliminary observations reveal that the quarry operates illegally, lacking safety measures. The police have cautioned community members engaged in such activities to desist from working in hazardous environments.
“We urge parents and guardians to be vigilant and ensure their children are not engaged in activities that pose risks to their lives,” Lubega said.
The police will take appropriate action in accordance with the law following the completion of investigations.
