The Commander of Sango Bay Police, Commissioner of Police Maate Godfrey, has died while executing his police duties.
According to reports, Maate collapsed on October 19,2025, while on duty in Kyotera and was rushed to a nearby health facility, where he was pronounced dead.
His demise was confirmed in an official statement released by the police today October 20, 2025.
“We sadly announce the death of Commissioner of Police Maate Godfrey, Commander of Sango Bay Police Operations. He passed away yesterday in Kyotera District.”
The news of his demise comes just days after the burial of the late Director of Human Rights and Legal Services, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Charles Katalatambi.
It should be recalled that prior to his death, commissioner Maate previously served as the Kasese District Police Commander and held various other leadership roles within the force.
