A fatal accident occurred on December 28, 2025, at around 6:00 AM at Kataka 1 village along the Tirinyi-Palisa road in Kibuku District claiming the life a 55 year old teacher.
A white Sino Howo semi-trailer (Reg No RAI 059C/RL 6904) driven by Musa Niyimbizizi Zaburini, 29, a Rwandan national, knocked down and killed a pedestrian, Robert Mudambi.
According to Fredrick Kyempasa, the Bukedi North region police spokesperson, the deceased was walking along the pedestrian walkway facing Pallisa when he branched off into a small path leading to his garden. The vehicle, allegedly driven with fatigue, hit and dragged him about 15 meters, killing him instantly.
He says the vehicle was intercepted and impounded and the driver and turn-man were arrested and have recorded statements and are currently detained at Kibuku Central police station.
Police visited the scene, took photographs, and towed the vehicle for inspection. The body has been taken to Mbale Reginal referral hospital for postmortem as investigations continue.
