KAMPALA CITY
Police at Kabalagala Police Division are investigating a tragic incident of electrocution in which a five-year-old girl, identified as Ayomirwoth Rehema lost her life in Kakunguru Zone, Kibuli, Makindye Division, Kampala.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday, 28th January 2026, at about 11:00 a.m.
It is alleged that the deceased, while playing with other children near a drainage channel, came into contact with a live stray wire supporting an electric pole, resulting in fatal electrocution.
The body was later conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination. Electricity Distribution Company officials were contacted and the affected wire was disconnected to prevent further danger.
By the time of filing this story, no arrests had been made, but inquiries into the matter were ongoing.
Police urged the public to report exposed or faulty electrical installations to the relevant authorities to avert similar incidents.
