Shyam Jay Tanna, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Tororo Municipality, has publicly endorsed the decision of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to retain Right Honourable Anita Annet Among as Speaker, alongside Thomas Tayebwa as Deputy Speaker for the 12th Parliament.
Tanna’s endorsement adds to an impressive chorus of support, with over 400 MPs rallying behind Among in a clear signal of unity and commitment to effective governance.
The backing underscores a collective belief among legislators that Among and Tayebwa possess the necessary expertise and proven track records to navigate the new Parliament.
“Anita Among and Thomas Tayebwa are not just seasoned politicians; they are tested leaders capable of steering the 12th Parliament toward success,” Tanna declared during a press briefing on Tuesday, 24th March, 2026.
He emphasized that the continuity of their leadership will help foster stability and progress as the nation addresses pressing issues such as economic recovery, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development.
