BUYENDE: Truck Crashes 5 Bajaj Occupants to Death at Kabigudo

The police in Busoga North Region have embarked on investigations into a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Sunday 12th April 2026, at Kabigudo along the Iringa–Kidera Road in Buyende District.

 

According to Busoga North Police spokesperson, SSP SK Lubega, the accident involved a TATA motor vehicle registration number UAW 966U and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle registration number UEZ 966W.

 

Preliminary findings indicate that the TATA vehicle, which was traveling from Kidera towards Iringa, experienced a mechanical failure after its steering system reportedly broke down. The driver consequently lost control of the vehicle, which collided with the motorcycle.

 

As a result of the crash, five occupants of the motorcycle lost their lives on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Nakisuyi Friday, 25 years, Kayiriko Latifah 1, Nanjeso Rahiya 4, Pande Denis 24, Mirabu Nabayigwa 6.

 

Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are ongoing. However, the incident highlights the critical importance of regular vehicle maintenance to ensure roadworthiness, particularly for heavy commercial vehicles.

 

Police extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and urged all road users to prioritize safety at all times.
