NAMISINDWA
Jackson Wakweika, the outgoing LC5 Chairperson for Namisindwa District, has finally agreed to hand over office next week following growing public pressure.
According to James Kitumbesi Bwayo, the Vice Chairperson of Namisindwa District, the official handover ceremony for the outgoing executive will take place on Tuesday, 19th May, at 12:00 PM. During the event, the outgoing leadership is expected to officially hand over the instruments of power to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), including the district stamp and the official double-cabin vehicle.
Kitumbesi’s confirmation comes at a time when concerned citizens had begun questioning why the outgoing leadership was still occupying offices and using government vehicles despite the official expiry of their term on 12th May.
He made the remarks on Friday evening during the burial of his cousin, Esther Kharono, in Namabya. He noted that they are praying for the incoming leadership, which is expected to be sworn in on Thursday afternoon at the district headquarters.
Meanwhile, Bwayo Emma, the incoming LC5 Chairperson, called for calm as the transition process takes shape. He said the new leadership remains committed to transparent governance and pledged to streamline district systems while fighting corruption without fear or favour.
