Court at Buganda Road presided over by Senior Principal Grade one Magistrate Winnie Nankya Jatiko, on June 2, 2026, remanded seven youth to Luzira Prison over alleged aggravated robbery of Shs.620 million from the manager of Economic forex bureau in Kampala.
The accused were jointly indicted with aggravated robbery contrary to Sections 266 and 267(2) of the Penal Code Act. Among them include; Ashiraf Mulindwa, Akid Khalid, Muhammed Kayiira, Tamim Kawaganya, Ivan Ongom, Ismail Maso Kasozi and Ivan Gizamba.
Prosecution states that the suspects aged between 18 and 30, on March 26, 2026, at Centenary Bank’s Nkrumah Road branch in Kampala, allegedly robbed Gisma Zulaika Hussein of a black backpack containing Shs. 620 million, property of Economic Exchange Forex Bureau.
Prosecution informed court that during the robbery the suspects were allegedly armed with dangerous weapons, including pangas, which they used to scare away the victim before making away with the money.
While in the court dock, Her Worship Nankya didn’t allow the accused persons to take plea because her court has no jurisdiction to try Capital offenders and it’s only High Court that can try them.
She later remanded the accused persons to Luzira Prison until June 15, 2026, when they will return to court for mention of their case.
