KAMPALA
A mob has lynched a 27 year old Makerere University student under circumstances yet to be established by Police investigators.
According to SP Rachael Kawala, the incident took place on 5th June 2026 at approximately 2:00 PM In Upper Naguru Community Village, Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District.
The deceased has been identified as Gongodyo Sydney, a 27-year-old male student of Makerere University and a resident of Najjera, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
It is alleged that while in Upper Naguru Community Village, the victim was subjected to mob action by members of the public under circumstances that are still under investigation.
Police officers responded promptly and rushed the victim to Mulago National Referral Hospital for medical treatment.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on 5th June 2026 at approximately 7:00 PM. Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Kawala says efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects involved so that they can be brought to justice.
