Seven senior officials from the Parliament of Uganda have today, 2nd July, 2026 been remanded to Luzira Prison until 7th July, 2026, following their appearance before Grade One Magistrate Esther Asiimwe of the Anti-Corruption Court.
The officials are facing charges brought against them by the Inspectorate of Government including embezzlement, causing financial loss to the government, and money laundering.
The officers include Chris Obore, Director Communications, Mr. Adilo Daniel, Director Human Resource, Mr. Okema Leonard, Executive Secretary, Office of Speaker, Mr. Rajab Kaaya Ssemalulu, Principal Research Officer, Mr. Okwi Emmanuel Emuron, Principal Protocol Officer, Mr. Otebata Vincent, Capacity Development Officer, and Mr. Murebe Methods, Chief Executive Officer, Uganda Parliamentary Cooperative Savings & Credit Society Ltd (SACCO).
The Inspectorate reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and promoting accountability in the public sector.
Through decisive action against the misuse of public resources, the Inspectorate continues to strengthen integrity in public service and reinforce the principle that no individual is above the law.
