MBALE CITY

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit on Thursday, 2nd July, 2026 arrested Daniel Mufumba, Mbale City’s three-month-old substantive engineer, over allegations of corruption.

Three months ago, Mbale City appointed its first substantive City Engineer, ending a long period of having acting engineers, a situation that had been affecting service delivery in the city.

According to Mbale City Deputy Town Clerk, Jolly Hasoho, the engineer has since been arrested over allegations that he committed offences while serving as Kamuli District Engineer.

Speaking to our reporter on Friday morning at her office, Hasoho said the city is currently relying on junior staff in the engineering department to carry out duties until it receives guidance from the government.
