Sironko District National Resistance Movement [NRM] leadership has today, Friday, 3rd July, 2026 launched a dedicated team to canvass for votes in the upcoming LC1, LC2, and Women’s League elections.
The Electoral Commission recently published a roadmap with election dates for LC1s, LC2s, and Women’s League committees across the country, set for July 28, 2026.
In response, Sironko NRM leadership has constituted teams at the village level to mobilize support and ensure that NRM candidates take all the positions.
Speaking to sub-county NRM leadership on Friday at the Sironko District Headquarters, Sironko NRM District Chairperson, Suliman Lumolo said the party recently won the LCV Chairperson seat, the Bududiri East MP seat, and the Woman MP seat, with only Bududiri West going to an Independent MP.
He added that the party also secured 55 out of 75 LC5 councillor seats and over 20 LC3 Chairperson positions across the district, which he described as an unprecedented achievement for Sironko in its history.
Kosea Wambaka, the Administrator of the National Resistance Movement in Sironko District, said the party aims to win over 99% of LC1, LC2, and Women’s League positions this time.
He said sub-county leaders will mobilize more members at the village and parish levels to canvass for votes and ensure that Sironko is “painted yellow.”
Guga Nabende, the LCV Chairperson, says it would be problematic to have more Opposition LC1s, LC2s, and women’s league leaders when all MP seats except one were won by the NRM.
Nabende said that, as LCV Chairperson, he wants to work only with NRM members to ensure the party’s manifesto is fully implemented.
Sironko RDC, Ephraim Denis Balwaniregha said they are ready to provide security to anyone who faces challenges during the campaigns in the field.
He asked the party to replace the positions left vacant by flag bearers who stepped down to take up PDM leadership roles in the recently concluded PDM elections.
