MBALE CITY: Taxi Rams Into Traffic Police Office at Sino Industrial Park

Police officers manning the Doko Fika Salama traffic checkpoint at Mbale Sino Industrial Park narrowly escaped death on Saturday, 4th July, 2026 after a taxi lost control and rammed into their office.

 

According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the incident occurred on July 4, 2026, at about 4:45pm along the Kamonkoli–Mbale highway.

 

The motor vehicle involved was a white Toyota Hiace, registration number UBM 487S, driven by Bakanzewa Aramathan, 40, a resident of Kadama in Kibuku District.

 

Elgon Region traffic police report that the driver was traveling from Kamonkoli towards Mbale when he reportedly lost control and knocked into the traffic office at the checkpoint.

 

Taitika says the scene was visited by the Regional Traffic Officer [RTO] Elgon, assisted by the District Traffic Officer [DTO] Mbale Industrial Division and team. The vehicle was later towed to the CPS Industrial Division.

 

He says fortunately, no deaths or injuries were recorded. Only the traffic office and the taxi were damaged. Police have registered the case and investigations are ongoing.
