KAMPALA
Police in Kampala have launched investigations into the death of an 18year-old Senior Four candidate of Naalya Secondary school, Bweyogerere campus in Kira Municipality, Wakiso district.
The Kampala Deputy Police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire told the press that the alleged suicide was reported to police on the evening of July 8, 2026, after the student whose identity is yet to be disclosed by authorities was found hanging inside a toilet block within the school’s boys’ section.
“Preliminary police findings indicate that the student (male) was last seen entering the toilet block shortly before the body was discovered,” he said.
Owoyesigyire revealed that scene of crime officers also recovered a handwritten note believed to have been written by the deceased.
“The note has been secured, and its contents are being examined as part of the investigation. Police extend condolences to the family, friends, and the entire school community during this difficult time,” Owesigyire consoled the bereaved family and the school community.
‘He added: “Investigations are ongoing and further details will be communicated once available. ‘
Owoyesigyire further said that a team of investigating officers has recorded statements from relevant witnesses, and conveyed the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a post mortem examination.
