Six notorious land grabbers who have been terrorizing land owners in Entebbe Sub-region, have been arrested and detained at Entebbe police station over illegal eviction of Immaculate Namakula, popularly known as Mankulata an elderly woman in Kisubi zone.
The six were arrested on July 14 ,2026, after Kajjansi Town Council Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Kajjansi, Patrick Mubiru received a call from the victim informing him of a group of men who had been ferried in two taxis’ to evict her forcefully.
“Last week, I gave an order not to evict the old woman from her land which she has occupied for the last 50 years, but a crafty group led by Godfrey Ntanzi, who lives in Masaka City came here claiming that the land belonged to his father yet it was not true,” Mubiru says.
RDC Mubiru noted that after proving to them that they have no ownership over the land, the group leader one Ntanzi, told him that they had already sold the disputed land for Shs300 million.
Deputy RDC Patrick Mubiru who interrogated the suspects upon arresting them, revealed that there were police officers who were allegedly assisting the group to evict the old woman from her land.
Jamil Sempagala from the Presidential Task Force on Land Matters and Environment revealed that the intervention followed an alarm to his office by Namakula who reported the land grabbers.
Sempagala, expressed grave concern on land grabbers who are trying to grab her land which she acquired 50 years ago.
Sempagala called on all government agencies to work together with the unit to curb land grabbing across the country.
Meanwhile, elderly Immaculate Namakula, informed the media that she started living on the disputed land in 1975, after shifting with her late mother Nalubedde from Gomba District to Kisubi zone.
