As the circumcision ceremony launch draws nearer, LCV chairpersons from the Bugisu region have formed committees that will run the different activities.
According to the plan, the circumcision ceremony will be launched on 1st August at the Mutoto Cultural Site located in Industrial City Division, Mbale City. President Museveni and his counterpart from Kenya, William Ruto, are expected as chief guests.
While speaking during a press conference at Mutoto Cultural Site, on Friday, 18th July, 2026, Emma Bwayo, the General Secretary, named the committees as follows: The Working Committee has Tony Wamakale, the LCV Chairperson of Mbale District, and Wilson Watala.
The Finance Committee has Alex Nabende Guga, the LCV Chairperson of Sironko, Patrick Nabana, and Pius Mude.
The Cultural Committee has Emma Watundu and Peter Pande.
The Entertainment Committee has Sam Mafabi and James Nabende.
The Welfare and Protocol Committee has Simon Peter Wanazofu, the LCV Chairperson of Bulambuli, Ivan Namala, and Fred Masaba.
The Publicity and Media Committee will have Emma Bwayo, the LCV Chairperson of Namisindwa, Mike Kayendele, and Abner Wepukhulu.
Security will have RDCs from the Bugisu region, the RPC, Iren Managali, and Allan Muduku.
The Resource Mobilization Committee has Silaji Mutenyele, Godfrey Natubu, the LCV Chairperson of Bududa, Lilian Mutonyi, and Godwin Mubuya.
Bwayo said that each committee will play its role as directed until the day of the circumcision launch.
He warned the current cultural leader, Mike Mudoma, with his cabinet members of Inzu Ya Bamasaba and their rivals from Inzu Ya Masaaba to desist from involving themselves in any arrangements, but to leave the work to the committees formed.
Kosea Kigai Kimono, the LCV Chairperson of Manafwa, also warned Stephen Masiga, the spokesperson of Inzu Ya Bamasaba, for going to the media and preaching the gospel of division, and deceiving the public that they will join the LCV chairpersons as Inzu Ya Bamasaba to organize the circumcision launch, saying it will not be allowed.
He said the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, General Tumukunde, together with the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus, recently resolved that it is the LCV chairpersons who should organize the circumcision launch ceremony, and not any cultural leader, following threats of chaos.
Geoffrey Natubu, the LCV Chairperson of Bududa, said that they are targeting to collect 1.2 billion shillings to complete all Mutoto activities, and that they will lobby for money from Bamasaba and other organizations.
Alex Nabende Guga, the LCV Chairperson of Sironko, urged Bamasaba to accept and donate money so that the launch can be successful.
