A 65-year-old retired police officer was on Monday, 3rd August 2026 found dead in his bathroom in Bwase Cell, Bwase Ward, Budaka Town Council, Budaka District.
According to ASP Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North Regional Police Spokesperson, the incident was reported to Budaka Police under SD Ref: 40/4/8/26 and BDK CRB 367/2026.The deceased has been identified as Taika William Kefasi, a Mugwere by tribe and resident of Bwase Cell. He was a retired Police Sergeant.
He says at around 12:00pm on 4th August 2026, the deceased was discovered by his immediate neighbor, Ongom Abdullah. Ongom had gone to check on him and found him lying naked on the bathroom floor. A bucket of water and soap were beside him.
The matter was reported by Kabwaka Fazale, 44, a businessman and resident of Nakibulu Cell in Budaka District.
Kyempasa adds that Information received from the deceased’s son, Dr. Taika Dan Eledrine indicated that his father had been suffering from prostate cancer and high blood pressure.
The family believes he died of natural causes and requested that no postmortem be conducted. They asked police to release the body for burial preparations.
Statements were recorded to that effect and the body was subsequently handed over to the family. Police say inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
