IGANGA
The territorial Police in Iganga are investigating a fatal road traffic crash that occurred on Tuesday 18 August 2026 at around 8:30pm at Busei along Iganga-Bugiri Road.
According to preliminary investigations, Motor Vehicle Reg No. UAM 483F, FUSO Fighter, while overtaking a queue of vehicles, lost control and knocked Motor Vehicle Reg No. UA 108AY, also FUSO Fighter, from the rear, pushing it over the road guardrails.
ASP Kasadha Michael, the Busoga East police Regional police Spokesperson, said this resulted into the driver of UA 108AY dying on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Walugendo Emma 36, resident of Naminya, Buikwe district and is currently at Iganga Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
The turnman of the same vehicle sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Nakavule Main Hospital for Medical attention.
One motor vehicle remains at the scene under police guard, and inquiries are ongoing.
Police urge all motorists to exercise caution, avoid dangerous overtaking, and respect road safety rules.
