A Laboratory Technician at Lugoba Health Centre III in Moyo District, has been arraigned before court on charges of Obtaining Money by False Pretence.
Amegovu Richard who was arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit appeared before the Moyo Chief Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Amegovu accused of getting money from job applicants with false promises of securing for them jobs was remanded until 26th August 2026.
According to investigations, between 2023 and 2024, Amegovu, together with other suspects who are still at large, allegedly obtained millions of shillings from several job applicants in Moyo Town Council by falsely claiming that he could secure them jobs as Enrolled Nurses and Clinical Officers under Moyo District Local Government.
The Applicants paid between Shs3 million and 10 million shillings, believing that the promised jobs would be secured for them, yet the claims were false.
The charges arise from complaints received from residents of Moyo District during the ongoing “Expose the Corrupt” Campaign, spearheaded by the Minister of Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara.
The Unit continues to work with the police and other security agencies on the ground to investigate allegations of corruption and related offences arising from complaints received during the “Expose the Corrupt” Campaign, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspected corruption through the established channels.
