BUGIRI
Police in Bugiri have registered a case of Murder by Mob Action vide CRB: 575/2026 at Bugiri Central Police Station.
ASP Kasadha Micheal, the Busoga East Regional Police Spokesperson said on Thursday 20th August 2026 at about 08:00 am, residents of Butegwa A Village, Nankoma Sub County, allegedly assaulted and killed one Muyingo Awali aged 33 after finding him with two chicken suspected to be stolen.
The scene was visited by the Scene of Crime and Homicide officers. The body was conveyed to Bugiri Mortuary for postmortem. Exhibits were recovered and statements recorded.
Police strongly condemns acts of Mob justice as they are illegal and urged residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Suspects are unknown and a manhunt is ongoing.
Police urged the public to report suspects to Police arguing that justice is served in courts, not through violence.
