Traffic Police in Rukungiri District is currently investigating circumstances surrounding a fatal road crash that occurred on Thursday 3rd September at about 7pm at Murambo cell, Nyabukuku, Nyakagyeme Sub- County in Rukungiri District.
Involved was a Motor vehicle Registration No. UBK 931A, and unknown Motorcycle, Bajaj Boxer, Red in Color.
It is alleged the motor vehicle UBK 931A that was from the direction of Rwenzori Catholic Parish, Bugangari Sub- County heading to Nyakibale catholic parish Rukungiri municipality for a youth Conference, lost control and hit a boda rider carrying a passenger. It overturned leaving three people dead and several others injured.
SP, Nelson Tumushime, Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson said that the deceased have been identified as Praise 16, Viani 15, Nahurira Bridget 14 and Tito Muhereza 20 who died at the emergency room, of Nyakibale hospital.
The injured are Tumusiime Godfrey 16, Monica Akampulira 18, Kansiime Scovia 18, Nanshaba Viani 16, Turyagumanawe Benjamin 18, Nayebare Proscovia 17 and Tumusiime Godfrey 16 years.
Police cautions all Motorists to avoid over speeding, and ensure that all motor vehicles are in good mechanical condition.
