KAMULI
Police in Kamuli are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday 6th September 2026, at Muzuri Guest House and Bar in Bunangwe Zone, Kamuli Municipality.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:30AM during a boxing event that had been organized at the said premises.
The deceased has been identified as Tenywa Hussein 41, who sustained a gunshot injury during an altercation at the venue and subsequently died at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that a confrontation occurred following a disagreement concerning access to the event. During the ensuing incident, a firearm was discharged, resulting in the fatal injury.
SSP SK Lubega, the police Spokesperson for Busoga North said that police were notified at approximately 12:39AM and immediately commenced investigations. Relevant exhibits were recovered to assist with the ongoing investigations.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to Kamuli General Hospital for postmortem examination.
The proprietor of the premises is in police custody to assist investigators in establishing the circumstances surrounding the incident. Other persons believed to have been involved are being actively traced.
Police are also investigating the circumstances under which the boxing event was organized, including whether the necessary security and regulatory arrangements were in place.
At this stage, investigations are still ongoing. Police therefore appeal to members of the public who witnessed the incident or have credible information that may assist in identifying and apprehending the persons responsible to come forward and provide information to the nearest police station.
The police assure the public that the matter is being handled professionally and that any person found to have acted unlawfully will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
