Shock engulfed Bududa District local government staff and residents after one of their own died while delivering due to neglect at Bududa hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Sandra Khabuya, who was working as a Secretary under the Trade and Finance Department at Bududa District Local Government and a resident of Busela Village, Nabafu Parish, Bushiribo Sub-county in Bududa District.

According to reports, she was taken to Bududa Hospital on Sunday, 6th September, 2026 for delivery but doctors delayed to attend to her until she died over unknown reasons.

Geoffrey Natubu, the District LCV Chairperson, has condemned the incident and called for a quick investigation, saying the doctors on duty should be arrested and face the law.

In his statement, Natubu said, “It’s bad to lose a mother due to neglect yet government increased salaries for all scientists to execute their duties well.”

Julie Namara, the Bududa Resident District Commissioner, said she will have a meeting today, Tuesday, 8th September with all the hospital staff before giving her official statement to the media.

She said this is the fourth similar case at the hospital, noting that this time the long arm of the law must take its course. She urged the public to remain calm as they await action against the culprits.
