Luuka Man Murders Mother, Sister

Police in Luuka district on Monday 7th September 2026 arrested a 21-year- old man identified as Mukisa Phillip, a resident of Bugobi zone, Nawanyago parish, Irongo Sub County in Luuka district over suspected murder of his mother and sister.

 

It’s alleged that the suspect who has been staying in the same house with his mother and sister killed them and later buried each separately inside their house.

 

The deceased have been identified as Tulina Betty 58, and Esther Mubeezi, 32.

 

According to reports, there is a family member who visited the home in the afternoon and the suspect was there but not with the deceased which raised suspicion because it was unusual.

 

He informed neighbors who also became suspicious after the deceased were not seen from morning time yet they always wake up early to do their chores.

 

A one Gawulira George, the area chairperson led in the search of their whereabouts only to find blood spilt in their house and later bodies buried inside the house. He reported the matter to police that arrived at the scene and the bodies taken to Kiyunga Health Center IV Morgue as investigations continue.

 

Gawulira castigated youths involved in using drugs which he said has contributed to criminality escalating in the area and also had no kind words for parents who have neglected their responsibility in proper child upbringing.

 

Busoga North Police spokesperson, SSP SK Lubega has confirmed the incident and called on parents to always counsel their children and nurture them into responsible citizens.

 

SSP Lubega said the suspect will remain in custody and be taken to court after investigations.
