Police in Rukungiri District on Wednesday 9th September 2026 arrested a business woman on allegations of defiling a minor.
The suspect has been identified as Akankwasa Caroline 30, Business Woman and a resident of Rwabuteneka Cell, Kagashe Ward, Eastern Division in Rukungiri Municipality.
The victim is 15 years old, a secondary school student, names withheld to as per the law.
It is alleged that on the 26th August 2026, at about 1500hrs, at Rwabuteneka Cell, the suspect Akankwasa called the victim to her home with intentions of defiling him and later gave him money.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson said the suspect is currently detained at Rukungiri Central Police Station on charges of Aggravated Defilement.
Police condemned acts of Defilement against Children and urged parents and guardians to protect their children and not allow them to move alone especially at Night.
The police also urged the public to report such cases to Police immediately and refrain from settling defilement cases at village level or for money.
