Police at Abim Town Council are investigating a fight that occurred on 27th September 2026 at All Saints Church of Uganda, Abim Town Council.
According to Longole Mike, police PRO Mt. Moroto/ASTU, its alleged that during the announcement session towards the end of the church service, Mr. Oyoo Innocent, the LC2 Chairperson of Wiawer Ward, requested to make an announcement. The Archdeacon, Rev. Canon Ongom Richard, declined to grant him the opportunity on grounds that he had not followed the established church procedure of prior notification.
He say this led to a confrontation and subsequent scuffle between the two, causing commotion in the church.
Both parties have since reported the matter to Abim Town Council Police Station. Two counter cases of assault have been registered, PF3 forms issued to both parties, statements recorded from both complainants and witnesses, and the scene has been visited.
Longole however, says no arrests have been made yet as inquiries are still ongoing.
“We appeal to the public to remain calm and to always use peaceful and lawful means to resolve disagreements, especially in places of worship,” said IP Longole Mike.
