Born again faithfuls at Holy City church in Bwerenga zone, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district, are in deep sorrow following the collapse of a four- storey extension church facility belonging to Bro. Ronnie Makabai.
It’s reported that dozens are feared dead while police have confirmed that twenty two people were severely Injured and rushed to Kisubi hospital and Entebbe General Referral Hospital respectively.
The substandard building collapsed at around 6 pm on Monday October 26, 2026 and the engineers were about to finish the fourth floor before they could proceed to the fifth floor.
Following the news of it’s collapse, police and other rescuers visited the scene and cordoned it off and successfully managed to rescue twenty two people who were rushed to nearby health facilities for medication.
In a police statement issued last night on October 26, 2026, the Uganda Police Force said rescue operations were ongoing as emergency teams were working tirelessly to establish whether more people remained trapped under the rubble.
The rescued victims were being evacuated to Entebbe Grade B hospital facilities for medical attention, according to police.
“Rescue operations are ongoing, with approximately 22 people rescued so far and being evacuated to Entebbe Grade B hospital for medical attention,” police said in a statement issued last night.
Police said officers were still working to determine whether anyone remained trapped inside the collapsed structure as rescue efforts continue.
However, the circumstances surrounding the collapse remain unclear, with police confirming that investigations into the cause are underway.
Investigators are expected to establish the circumstances under which the structure collapsed and determine whether any safety or construction requirements were breached.
The number of victims is expected to increase as the operation progresses, while the condition of those evacuated for medical attention will be disclosed later in the day.
Meanwhile, Bro. Ronnie Makabai has not spoken out on the collapse of his church extension facility, which had reached the fourth floor.
