Kasangati Police Division is investigating the alleged murder of two-year-old Kyomuhando Dartiva Rosaries, whose disappearance was reported by her mother, Atukwatse Lillian, on 27 October 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the child went missing while playing with neighbouring children. On the morning of 28 October 2026, a ransom note demanding UGX 10 million was discovered at her mother’s gate.
Police subsequently arrested two suspects in connection with the incident. One of the suspects, Muhumuza Joshua, a pedicurist, reportedly confessed to the crime and led investigators to a maize plantation in Kyetume, Gayaza, where the child’s body was recovered. He also reportedly identified his alleged accomplice, Amusuguti Florence, who has since been arrested
A mobile phone was recovered from Muhumuza during a search. The phone contained a mobile line allegedly used to demand the ransom
Preliminary findings further indicate that Muhumuza was known to both the child and her mother. He had previously worked for the mother as a pedicurist, and his residence was separated from the family’s home by a perimeter wall.
The child’s body was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
