Soroti City East Division has higher increased number of HIV/AIDs cases as compared to the West Division.
This was revealed yesterday 3rd, Nov, 2021 by Isaac Ekellot the assigned city quality improvement focal person working with TASO (the aids support organization) during a one day work shop on HIV/AIDSs at the City Council that was attended by different leaders.
In his presentation, Ekellot explained that most of the over populated Wards and Cells in Soroti City East like Moruapesur, Kichinjaji, Town Talks among others are some of the areas mostly affected with different viral loads recorded.
“Soroti City’s HIV prevalence rate is at 4.9, with the female prevalence rate at 3.8% and 6 % for the males,” he added.
He further pointed out identification of those living with the virus, use of preventive measures like the use of condoms, working with different peers who can lead them to those exposed as some of the measures of fighting the spread of the virus following the 2030 target of ending Aids and impact targets for SDG 3 though it still remains epidemic in most places because its heterogeneous.
