The Minister for Information, Communications Technology and National Guidance has blasted the Police Spokesperson for summoning Jacob Oulanyah’s father over poison claims.

In a tweet, Chris Baryomunsi this morning 12th April 2022 said it was improper for Fred Enanga to summon an old man who is still mourning the death of his son.

“It is improper to summon a father who has just lost his child. At this rate Enanga will summon the late Jacob Oulanyah. Enanga should stop being excited and shouldn’t drag me into this drama,” @CHRISBARYOMUNS1 ICT Minister. Baryomunsi’s tweet reads.

He also attacked Enanga for dragging him into the Oulanyah poison claims.

Baryomunsi has not spared his colleague, Kiwanda as well.

“I want to warn Hon [Godfrey] Kiwanda and spokesperson], @FredEnanga1 to stop mixing me in the drama of poison,” Baryomunsi said.

Yesterday, 11th April 2022, Enanga told the Nation that Police intends to summon Mzee Nathan Okori, father to the late Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah over his claims that the deceased was poisoned.

Last Friday, during the burial of Oulanyah, Mzee Okori when given chance to greet mourners said his son was poisoned.

“Jacob Oulanyah was poisoned. He told me. And he was operated on, doctors attempted to deal with the poison. The poison affected his health so badly…he was not in a position to recover. He was too weak.” Mzee Okori stunned mourners who all along had been told that Oulanyah died of cancer.

Others to be summoned according to Enanga are; National Unity Platform (NUP) principal, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, minister for ICT and national guidance, Chris Baryomunsi, and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) vice chairman for central Uganda, Godfrey Kiwanda.

Police will also interview Dokolo South MP Felix Okot Ogong, Kilak South MP Gilbert Olanya, Northern Uganda based musician Bosmic Otim, and many bloggers.

Enanga also said that a file of offensive communication is being prepared at CID headquarters in Kibuli, Kampala.

Last Tuesday, Dr Aceng told Parliament that Oulanyah’s death was caused by multiple organ failure from cancer.

But like Mr Okori, Mr Kiwanda told journalists at the weekend: “In 2021 when he was too sick, he called me home and I asked ‘what is the problem, Jacob? What is going on?’ He said, ‘I think I was poisoned.’

“I said ‘But from where?’ and he said ‘I don’t know.’ But he told me ‘don’t tell anyone.’ I said ‘if you are sick, why don’t we share it so that you get medical attention?” Of course, I couldn’t keep quiet so I shared with some people. This allegation [of poisoning] was from him [Oulanyha]. It didn’t originate from the father because he even told it to me,” Mr Kiwanda added.
