SOROTI CITY
Soroti city on Saturday 9th April, 2022 crowned its first Beauty Queen since it attained the City status.
The Queen who was lucky to take this historical crown is none other Ariokot Priscilla Emiaku.
But Who Is Ariokot Priscilla Emiaku?
The 20 year old Emiaku s a year two student at Makerere University pursuing bachelors of science in Meteorology. She also works as a model under Crystal Models Africa.
Emiaku hails from Agwara Village, Dokolo Parish, Gweri County in Soroti District.
Outside the course she is pursuing, Emiaku is a Mental Health Activist.
“I am also a mental health activist who has gone through a lot of mental health issues of especially anxiety and depression,” she revealed to this website.
Immediately after being crowned Miss Soroti City Beauty Queen, Emiaku said she considers the Crown as a Humanitarian job and that she is up to the job to serve the people of Soroti City.
Interestingly unlike many girls of her age and education, Emiaku’s favorite meal is a combination of Emalakany (a popular type of greens in Teso) and sweet potatoes.
Her inspiration to contest arose from her desire to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Soroti City.
“What inspired me to join the contest is the urge to serve the people of Soroti city because I believe Miss Soroti City is a humanitarian job of serving the people of soroti city.” She says.
She also wants to be an example to many girls who have come out of the Covid-19 Lockdown traumatized.
“I want to be an example that whatever the circumstances, you can also make it and am going to engage in creating mental health awareness especially among the youth so that those suffering mentally can be helped to recover,” Emiaku says.
Emiaku believes that an idle mind is a devil’s work shop and so to avoid being the Devil’s Workshop, Emiaku keeps herself busy by reading novels, listening to music and traveling.
Her Message to Teenagers
Emiaku advises the young girls to prioritize their mental health by avoiding abuse of drugs.
She also encourages them to continue and ensure they complete their studies.
Unfortunately Emiaku believes in keeping her family out of the public’s eyes, so this website was unable to get to know her parents or details of her upbringing.
