BULAMBULI
The notorious Fall African army worms have invaded the Eastern Uganda District of Bulambuli.
This was revealed by the Bulambuli District Agricultural Officer, Joel Wamboza yesterday 4th May, 2022 in an exclusive interview with this website at his offices in Bulambuli.
Wamboza says the Fall African armyworms and armyworms have attacked over ten sub counties in the district destroying mostly maize plantations. He identified the affected sub counties as; Nabongo, Bwikhonge, Bulugeni, Bulambuli town council, and Bunambutye among others
He adds that they first had the outbreak at the beginning of April and they were killed but that they have come back again.
Wamboza urged farmers to report to their nearest sub county agricultural officers for advice or spray with dudcyper.
Christopher Watenga, one of the affected farmers, says that these worms eat all leaves and veins of the plant leaving a plant bare.
He adds that the government should have purchased chemicals for farmers since the majority can’t afford to buy such that they are not hit by hunger in future.
