Following the outcry of farmers at Namisindwa about wanting the government to vaccinate their animals after the outbreak of Anthrax disease, authorities have decided to commence the exercise on Friday this week.

This was revealed by Isaac Ongom, the Namisindwa district animal husbandry officer while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview at his office today, 14th June 2022.

He revealed that the delay in commencing the vaccination exercise was caused by the ministry of agriculture that took some time to release the vaccines.

Ongom also says that they are going to move door to door using sub county veterinary officers and LCIs to vaccinate animals like cows, goats and sheep against Anthrax.

Nicholas Soita, the LCIII chairperson of Bukyabi Sub County in Namisindwa expressed his happiness with the plan and is asking farmers to be there and vaccinate their animals such that Anthrax can be kicked out of Namisindwa and Elgon region at large.

So far two Anthrax cases have been reported at Namisindwa with two deaths.
