A speeding trailer with a Kenyan registration number KBK 315T has this morning, 5th July 2022 knocked dead a 66 year old woman at the Lwakhakha Uganda-Kenya border.
According to Bonny Wekesa, an eye witness, the deceased is Dorcas Namalwa, a resident of Lwanda cell, Bubutu ward, Bubuto Town Council in Namisindwa district.
He added that the speeding Kenyan truck loaded with cement entering Kenya from Ugandan side knocked a boda boda motorcycle carrying Namalwa.
Wekesa also says that when the truck knocked the motorcycle, the rider got serious injuries and has been rushed to Mbale regional referral hospital while Namalwa died on the spot due to over bleeding.
David Wamwalwa and Julius Wanyenya, also residents of Lwakhakha town council, blamed the boda boda rider for crossing to the wrong side causing the accident.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying that they are still hunting for the driver of the trailer because he took off. Meanwhile, the trailer is currently parked at Lwakhakha Uganda customs police pending investigations.
