NAMISINDWA
Namisindwa district local government has registered an improvement in the utilization of government grants released to the district.
This was revealed by Jackson Wakwaika, the LCV chairperson of Namisindwa district while presenting his state of affairs address at the district head offices on Saturday 16th July 2022.
According to Wakwaika, in the F/Y 2020/2021 they returned one billion shillings to the national treasury but last financial year, 2021/2022 they returned only 400 million shillings.
He adds that in the F/Y 2021/2022 they returned 400 million shillings only because they were able to recruit new staff members like parish chiefs, teachers, and medical workers.
Wakwaika also says that this increased staffing is going to improve service delivery in the district which has been poor.
Dorothy Nebokhe Walukawu, the district speaker says that in the one year they have been in office, they have achieved and done a lot.
She also says that they have been facing a few challenges like bad roads since the district is mountainous whereby roads get spoiled quickly during rainy seasons.
Moses Wandwasi, the Teskululu sub-county councilor urged the public to take good care of developments like roads, and water among others which the district has put in place in their areas.
He adds that currently, they need lots of money to repair the Teskululu gravity flow scheme water project which was vandalized by locals.
