MABLE CITY

The Mbale Resident City Commissioner has called off the current ongoing developments at over 50 acres of land belonging to the Ministry of agriculture located at Nkoma Ward opposite Islamic University In Uganda Mbale Campus Northern City Division in Mbale City.
Ahamada Washakie gave the directive last evening, 19th July 2022 at his office where he addressed the Media.
Washakie accused the Northern City Division authorities of giving away government land.
He ordered the tycoon to stop any development and urged him to go to Northern city division and demand his money back in case he was asked to pay for the land.
The directive follows developments on the swamp by one of the Mbale city tycoons known as Moses Musoli who is believed to have connived with Northern city division authorities to get this government land to put up a construction and engineering factory.
According to George Wanakina, the Mbale district production officer, this wetland was under the Mbale district but was later given to the city with the purpose of using for fish ponds for demonstration purposes.
He adds that it was a shock to see a tycoon starting to fill the whole wetland with murram with the intention of setting up a factory.
Martine Busiku, the Northern City Senior Assistant Town Clerk has however denied having any knowledge of the ongoing development.
Busiku adds that he has already summoned Moses Musoli in writing to come to his office for questioning about how he acquired the land.
However, Musoli has claimed he got clearance from Sarah Wazemwa, the Assistant Town Clerk of the Northern City Division to develop the land.
He adds that Wazemwa asked him to pay some money which he did although he did not disclose the amount.
Musoli has now threatened to seek legal redress if he is stopped from going ahead with developing the land.
Meanwhile, Wazemwa has dismissed claims of getting money from Musoli tasking him to prove.
Wazemwa also urged Musoli to bring any written document she gave him granting permission to construct a factory.
She says that Musoli came to her office wanting permission for putting a road for easy accessibility of the area which was granted but was not given land to carry any development.
