Leaders from Namisindwa district have officially launched the road rehabilitation works expected to last two months.

While speaking during the launching exercise at Tolokwa – Namugai road located at Bumwoni Sub County yesterday, 24th July 2022, Jackson Wakaika the LCV chairperson of Namisindwa district said most of the roads in the district are in a bad state.

He adds that the problem they have as a district is that the central government allocated only 30 million shillings in this first quarter which is too little to finish all the roads in the district.

Wakwaika says that Namisindwa is one of the districts in Bugisu sub region located in a mountainous area where it’s hard to maintain roads and they last long during this rainy season.

He urged Members of Parliament to lobby for more money for the district local government such that all district roads can be maintained.

However, John Musila, MP for Bubulo East Constituency in Namisindwa donated 150 litres of diesel to be used in the rehabilitation of the roads in his constituency.

He adds that he wants some of the roads to be rehabilited for easy movement of people in his constituency since the district gets little money from the central government which can’t be used to maintain all roads in the district.

Musila urged other MPs and local leaders in the district to emulate him such that they can help their people.

Rogers Mukhozo and Ivan Bikati residents from Bumwoni Sub County expressed their happiness with the launch saying that this is going to help the district be accessible.

They add that they are facing challenges in transporting their agricultural products to Mbale town for sale and taking expectant mothers to health centers.
