KATAKWI
The Acting Chief Administrative Officer, Katakwi District has courted public fury after it emerged that not only did he ‘own’ a Covid-19 Response brand new Pick-Up donated to the district by the Ministry of Health but also erased the mark ‘Katakwi District’ from it.
This reporter was among the few who got a tipoff from a whistleblower yesterday, 16th August 2022 that John Patrick Nuwabigaba had erased ‘Katakwi District’ mark on the Pick-Up vehicle supposed to be used by the District Health Department.

The Covid vehicle white in colour, number plate, UG 7047M is always parked at night in a private petrol station company called TOTAL in Katakwi whenever the CAO is in the district.
A high profile source who preferred anonymity told this website that there was a meeting held at the district headquarters where they asked the CAO to explain why he rubbed the words ‘Katakwi District’ on the vehicle. According to this source, the CAO apparently shifted the blame to some members of security saying it was the latter who told him to erase the words.
The source revealed further that the CAO was grilled for spending very little time in office but instead spends most of it in Kampala.
Our source established that on Thursday 11th of August 2022, the district leaders called for a meeting to discuss issues affecting the district. Amongst the issues raised was that of the CAO who felt ashamed in front of the RDC Katakwi, Geoffrey Katamba, the lC5 Katakwi Hon. Geoffrey Omolo and his DEC, heads of departments among others.
Now the members of the public have accused the District leadership of turning a blind eye when government property is being abused.
“Of course I will not do office or oversight role on social media but to think no action was taken/leaders are quiet is wrong.
Action is taken against this and our offices are open for any details in this matter,” Hon. Omolo, the LC5 katakwi on 16th August 2022 at 8:00pm east African time responded when asked about the CAO’s involvement in rubbing the words from a covid 19 vehicle. This was in “Katakwi Youth Parliament Watsup Group.”
Another high placed and veteran journalist in Teso, Mr. James Bond Odongo condemned the act and said “The person who rubbed the writing should be *ARRESTED* and prosecuted.”
A one Francis Ocen, a taxpayer said that, leaders don’t quickly respond to issues of theft of government property as if they also eat from the same plate.
