Health Training: Govt to fund:Government to refurbish health training institutions

The government of Uganda under the ministry of education and sports has plans to allocate more resources for refurbishing government health institutions of high learning as a way of uplifting health across the country, the minister of state for higher education has said.

Dr John C. Muyingo, revealed this weekend while officiating at the graduation ceremony at Mbale School of hygiene located in the Northern city division in Mbale city.

Dr Muyingo said the government has been prioritizing primary schools, secondary, Universities, and other institutions of higher learning by constructing more modern buildings, employing teachers, and buying computers among others leaving health institutions.

“And starting next financial year the government has set aside money for recruiting more staff, construct new blocks and buy more computers at all health training institutes across the country,” said Dr Muyingo without disclosing the exact figure.

Mr Gruesome IIukor, the principal of Mbale School of hygiene expressed his happiness with the government plans saying that this is going to uplift education standards in health training schools.

He said that as an institution, they have been facing challenges of lack of enough teachers, and inadequate classrooms among others which have been affecting the teaching.

A total of 420 students graduated with certificates and diplomas in different health science courses at Mbale School of hygiene. Ends
