Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU) has registered high coffee supply from farmers in this season than previous seasons and years.

This was revealed by John Musila, the BCU Vice Chairperson also Member of Parliament presenting Bubulo East constituency in Namisindwa district in an exclusive interview on Monday, 2nd January, 2023.

Musila said that in this season alone, farmers have supplied the union with over 2 million kilograms of coffee which has never been the case because in previous seasons, they have been receiving 500,000 kilograms or less.

He adds that all their stores are currently full and are planning to create other rooms as stores as a way of accommodating all coffee supplied.

Isaiah Sasaga Wanzira, Director of Sironko Valley Zone also Member of Parliament representing Budadiri East Constituency in Sironko district says that this increment has come as a result of the zonal meetings which the board conducted with farmers across Bugisu region last year.

He adds that during the zonal meetings, they encouraged farmers to bring their coffee to BCU other than supplying their competitors since the price has been increased with ready cash which has not been there before.

Sasaga encouraged other coffee farmers to bring their coffee to BCU as a way of developing Bugisu region and improving on the price.
