Casual Workers Storm District Over Non Payment Of Wages

BUGWERI

Casual workers in Bugweri District have stormed the district headquarters demanding to be paid their monthly wages.

The angry workers allege that they have gone for 4 months without being paid yet they have families to look after especially now that the country is in lockdown due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

They stormed the office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Jonathan Mukose and the district Engineer, James Kisule who also fled for fear of his life yesterday 15th June 2020.

The Resident District Commissioner, (RDC) Gadi Lugajju who was present at the time of the protest calmed them down promising to fix their concern.

Efforts to talk to Mukose and the district Engineer Jam about the raised concern were unsuccessful.

Recently volunteer nursing medical workers in the same district nearly threw in the towel citing among others delayed take-over by government.
