The Bamasaba of Bugisu sub region are living in confusion as two factions have fronted two different persons as heads of the Bamasaba Cultural Institution.

Last week on Tuesday, a faction led by the Institution’s Speaker, Nelson Wedayila elected Mike Mudoma as the new Umkhukha.

The group claim that term of office of Bob Mushikori, the current Umkhukha expired on 29/ 6/2020.

Mushikori came out yesterday Sunday the 11th of October to denounce the elections that were organised by the Speaker of the Institution thereby electing another Umkhukha 111.

Mushikori, in a press briefing at Masaba cultural institution offices, Malukhu in Mbale city, said he was not aware of any election yet according to their constitution, he is the one mandated to organize such an election.

He described the whole process as null and void urging Bamasaba to desist from hearing what he called as rubbish from Wadayila and his group.

He accused the Wadayila group of having their selfish interests with the aim of dividing Bamasaba.

On the other hand, Matthias Nabuteri, the Deputy Prime Minister of Masaba cultural institution revealed that they are preparing to elect new Umkhukha before the end of next month of November since the term of office is soon expiring.

However, Mike Mudoma the newly elected Umkhukha has advised the Mushokori group to seek court redress if they want to dispute the election.

He adds that out of 54 delegates at Masaba Cultural Institution 33 elected him as the next Umkhukha.

“The current Umkhukha should organize and hand over to me since his five year term officially ended in June.” Mudoma said.
