The Eastern National Vice Chairperson for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party was this morning seen hosting an independent candidate for Serere District Woman Member of Parliament.
Flight Captain, Mike Mukula is now being accused of supporting the Independent, Suzan Irene Akiror against the party’s choice, Hellen Adoa Abeku who went unopposed during the NRM Party primaries.
In a video seen by this website, Akiror is seen entering the home of Mike Mukula in Senior Quarters Soroti City with her entourage of two other members using vehicle registration number UAU 417H.
In the same video, Sam Olila in blue from Serere is seen at the gate. Sources indicate that Olila who did not enter Mukula’s compound had escorted an unnamed gentleman to meet Mukula.
Irene Susan Akiror is little known in the electoral politics of Serere district yet she finds herself heavily backed with the sole aim of uprooting Serere Woman MP Hellen Adoa who is also a longtime supporter of the President.
Whereas the motives of this morning’s (Thursday) meeting are not clear this website has established that, the duo (Mukula and Akiror) have been engaging in several secret talks to oust Minister Adoa who is believed to have won the hearts of several Serere voters and that of the Head of State.
We have also since established that, the powerful haters from within the ruling NRM including Mukula are uncomfortable with Adoa’s rising political star.
The haters are particularly fearful that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni could elevate Adoa from the State Minister for Fisheries to full cabinet Minister when she bounces back as Woman MP in 2021.
It must be understood that during the President’s visit to Teso, Minister Adoa asked several NRM leaders to campaign in their own districts in order to avoid confusion.
When contacted Adoa said, she wasn’t aware of any planned meeting but only added that, “There are always allegations of NRM’s who pretend to be NRM yet they are fighting flag bearers and financing independents and opposition against their own people and I have come to prove this today.”
Efforts to get a comment from Mukula on why he held the meeting with the independent candidate who is vying for the seat against the party’s flag bearer went futile with him only responding to our reporter via text saying; “Sorry, I can’t talk right now.”
