News reaching eastnews.co.ug is that another Kampala based lawyer has joined the race for Bukooli central parliamentary race in Bugiri district.

Remy Mukuve, proprietor of Kampala based Mukuve and company advocates and son to former Constituent Assembly Delegate, Dick Mukuve for Bukooli central said he wants to restore the past glory of what his late father had contributed to the area.

Mukuve said his late father managed to construct grinding mills in all sub counties besides constructing roads in most areas in the constituency unlike the current leaders.

Mukuve who previously served as Chairman Lumumba Hall while at Makerere University said he has already set up a 12 man team that will follow up any cases of election malpractice in the constituency and will immediately file cases even before the end of the campaign period.

Mukuve who is riding on the FDC ticket promised to set up FDC party structures at all sub counties in the constituency to ensure it improves on its strength at the grass root levels.

Bukooli central with a population of over 100,000 residents, 200 polling stations, 11 sub counties, 55 parishes and 260 villages has always been an opposition strong hold since the time Wafula Oguttu was elected before being ejected by the NRM strongman, Solomon Silwany in 2016 polls.

Majority of Oguttu’s supporters later heaped blame on him accusing him of failing to address bribery of voters at different polling stations and instead opted to sit back at his home in Syanika village as the vice was being conducted by Silwany himself.

Mukuve studied at St Kizito primary school, later St. Marys College Kisubi, a school that has admitted figures like Katikiro of Buganda Peter Mayiga, where he emerged as the best arts student.

He later enrolled for a bachelor’s degree in Law at Makerere University on government sponsorship.

While at Makerere he contested for guild presidency on the FDC ticket but lost and was appointed chairman for Lumumba hall.

He later worked as a volunteer with an NGO, Public defend association of Uganda, before being appointed legal officer for Capital Markets Authority of Uganda but later resigned being a member of the opposition yet it was a government entity.
