As of yesterday, Monday the 31st of August 2020, the Ministry of Health confirmed two new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total number to 32.

 

The ministry also confirmed 44 new cases out of 2,397 samples tested on Sunday. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 2,972.

 

Of the 44 confirmed new cases, 42 cases were of contacts and alerts who included 31 are from Kampala, 5 Wakiso, 2 Kitgum. 2 Arua, 1 Gulu and one from Tororo.

 

With another Lockdown unlikely, Ugandans must embrace themselves to live alongside this deadly virus. In fact the government is most likely going to open up even further. Churches will soon open, bars and maybe schools in a phased manner. All these openings will spike the corona virus cases.

Apart from the much hyped MOH Sops such as wearing masks, washing hands with soap as often as possible, social distancing and avoiding touching the eyes and nostrils, proper nutrition to build immunity is the best way forward.

 

It is important to note that even as of today, there is no medicine that treats Corona. Medics use immune boosting treatment to help the body fight off the infection.

 

It is common knowledge as well, that over 50% of the infected persons are asymptomatic but can spread the virus. In simple terms asymptomatic means an individual is infected with the virus but shows no symptoms. In other words the person is not sick.
