The Katikkiro of Buganda has finally acknowledged publicly that his master, Kabaka Mutebi is sick.
Charles Peter Mayiga made this acknowledgment today 10th May 2021 while giving a state of the Buganda kingdom address.
Mayiga in a tweet said that although the Kabaka is not well, he is steadily recuperating.
“The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, is on a steady road to recovery,” Mayiga added.
Mayiga’s tweet was in Luganda; “Ssaabasajja Kabaka wadde mukosefu naye ajja kuteleera bulungi (loosely translated as: although the Kabaka is not well, he is steadily recuperating).’
The Social Media went into overdrive recently when the Kabaka appeared to celebrate his 66th birthday looking frail.
Many criticized the Katikkiro for not telling the world the truth about Kabaka’s health condition.
This prompted members of the Royal family to break the silence and they issued a statement in which they said that the Kabaka was unwell and undergoing treatment.
In a statement, siblings to the Kabaka, without offering details of his health condition, said that whereas he has been unwell, he is responding to treatment very well.
“Ssabasajja (Kabaka) has been unwell for a while. However, he has responded well to the prescribed medication and his medical team is positive about his prognosis,” they said.
The statement signed by Princesses Nassolo, Sarah Kagere, Dina Kigga and Agnes Nabaloga followed public concern especially on social media platforms about the seemingly unhealthy physical appearance of the Kabaka.
